The Global Studies degree at Jamestown 社区 College prepares you to transfer to a bachelor’s program in global, 国际, 或者文化研究. You can pursue careers in a wide variety of fields, 包括教育, 政府, 国际 companies and organizations, 律师事务所, 非营利性组织, 安全机构, 旅游及观光公司, 还有旅行社.
JCC’s program promotes critical perspectives on the social, 文化, 环境, 政治, and 经济 issues and processes associated with globalization. While at JCC, you’ll concentrate on three key areas of study:
- Cultural and 区域 studies: This area of study critically evaluates global cultures. You’ll study what characterizes a society and question preconceptions. You’ll explore global issues and 文化 identities as they relate to the arts, 宗教, 语言, 文学, 和文明.
- Institutions and issues: This area of study examines how we utilize our personal, 区域, and global resources to meet our human needs and our impact on the Earth and its global citizens. You’ll study critical issues that impact global citizens, 还有经济上的, 监管, 政治机构.
- 和平, 正义, and conflict management: This area of study develops global thinking and a respect for diversity and the rights of all forms of life. Critical issues include recognizing social in正义, 影响因素, and actions necessary to bring change. You’ll develop mediation and resolution skills that can work in many organizations and settings.

After you complete the program, you will be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of global issues, processes, trends, and systems (i.e., 经济, 政治, and 环境 issues and policies; 环境-文化 interaction; global governance bodies).
- Demonstrate a global perspective by utilizing diverse frames of reference and alternate perspectives to question and analyze global issues and problems.
- Communicate in a second language in each of the four modalities: speaking, 听, 阅读, 以及初学者水平的写作.
